The area was constructed during the dyke reinforcement in 1977 and is now indispensable for the birds. From April to June many bird species come here to breed. You can spot avocet chicks, oystercatchers and common terns. The area is rich in food such as snails, shrimps and insects. The area is easy to oversee from the Lancaster Dike.
