The History of Oudeschild goes back to the 17th century, at the beginning of this century the fishing village of Oudeschild came into existence. During the time of the VOC, the village had a rich history, the ships provided trade and trade brought prosperity in return. The water from the Wezenputten was very popular because of its high iron content and long preservability. Barrels of this water were transported by small boats to the waiting ships.
