Texel is famous for its many sheep that can be seen across the whole island. Have you ever wanted to just pick up one of the little lambs and cuddle with it? The Sheep Farm in Den Burg makes this possible on the farm. They have 25 different breeds of sheep. Other activities include pony rides, a straw maze, picnics and cuddling lambs.
Sheep Farm Texel is a special farm with a history that stretches back to the 1700s. This is because the square has been made from decayed VOC ships and has been used to keep sheep ever since. Sheep used to be sheared for their wool and milked for several products such as cheese, these milking installations can still be admired.
On Schapenboerderij Texel you can discover 25 different sheep species. Besides the sheeps there are also pigs, dwarf goats and chickens & ponies. Watching and playing with dwarf rabbits and chicks and riding the ponies offer entertainment for the little ones. Watch a demonstration and learn how farmers drive sheep with dogs. There are picnic tables all over the yard to enjoy a meal.
